django-nms grew out of the daily work of a fiber operator in Kraków. We develop it as a product for operators who want a modern system without giving up local compliance.

Why Django
LMS served a generation of Polish operators, but PHP and Perl from the early 2000s are ever harder to maintain and extend. Foreign SaaS systems are polished but do not know national e-invoicing or tax files, and their price rises with the dollar.
We built django-nms on Django because it is a stack where developers are easy to find, tests are easy to write and the system is easy to maintain for years. Every module has tests run in CI against PostgreSQL. The admin interface, based on django-unfold, gives dark mode, a command palette and responsive views without writing a frontend from scratch.
django-nms is not open source today. Enterprise customers get access to the source code under a commercial licence, and a community edition under an open licence is under consideration. We earn on hosting, support, migrations and custom development.
